Dana Mills to Co-Anchor America’s Morning News
Now Airing On Over 120 Affiliates, 15 of the Top 30 Metro Markets
Washington, D.C. – Talk Radio Network Entertainment and The Washington Times announce the addition of Dana Mills as new co-anchor of America's Morning News, the nationally syndicated morning drive news program delivering news and information to affiliated stations all across the nation. Mills is a talented and experienced journalist with plenty of drive time news anchoring experience in many major markets. Mills has joined AMN's veteran co-anchor, John McCaslin, delivering an innovative news format aimed at showcasing investigative reporting, accountability journalism and live reporting directly from the nation's capital.
Mark Masters, CEO of Talk Radio Network Entertainment says, “Dana Mills is an excellent addition to our co-anchored news team. Working together, we've developed the next generation news programming that is rapidly gaining national audience share with over 120 affiliates secured to date and in 15 of the top 30 markets.”
Dana Mills says, "I am thrilled to be joining the exceptional team at AMN, TRN-E and The Washington Times. They are consummate professionals doing important work in challenging times. I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to that effort and to work again with my long-time mentor, Phil Boyce."
Dana Mills’ news anchoring and broadcast experience is extensive. Her first experience in anchoring a news broadcast was in Denver, CO where she joined two sister affiliates news teams. She quickly became the news anchor for one of the top rated stations in the market. Denver’s news team was led by News Director, Phil Boyce, who now is the President of Programming, for Talk Radio Network Entertainment, AMN's syndicator. Mills’ and Boyce’s news team won the honor of Best Radio News Team in America, from The Radio Television News Directors Association.
Mills jumped to anchoring news on the #1 station in Detroit, the sixth largest metro market in the nation, where she anchored afternoon newscasts for some time before hosting an afternoon drive time news program formatted a lot like America's Morning News is today.
She later was news anchor on CBS owned radio station in Detroit where she teamed up with legendary Detroit morning personality Dick Purtan to become part of an ensemble morning drive radio program. Mills’ strength as both a news anchor and also a personality helped drive ratings to the top of the Detroit radio rankings. She remained in Detroit for over 14 years and was part of the morning team up until 2008.
Dana Mills is a graduate of Kent State University, where she majored in Journalism. Mills was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, where she started her career in radio and television in Cleveland, and then moved to Denver where she lived and worked for 11 years.
Tom McDevitt, President of The Washington Times says, “Dana Mills is an exciting and welcome addition to the America's Morning News team. Together with the gifted John McCaslin, they will provide a compelling mix of insider politics and heartland spirit, broadcast live from Washington. We are pleased to have Ms. Mills join John McCaslin in a vibrant forum for news makers, bolstered by Washington Times' journalists.”
Phil Boyce, Talk Radio Network Entertainment’s Director of Programming, says, “AMN's coverage of major breaking news has dominated the shows airtime. As the show features news coverage on many major stories including: Top headlines about the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden dominating the morning news program‟s recent show and providing breaking news coverage as it happened. The uprisings in the Middle East in Egypt and Libya have also been featured and have peeked major interest along with the 9.0 Earthquake in Japan and then the tsunamai and nuclear meltdown have also been in the fore front of major news items and breaking news.”
Boyce continues, “I have had the privilege of working with Dana at two great radio stations. She is really one of the best news anchors I have ever heard on the air. She is a true professional with great journalistic integrity. She also has a great personality that fits this format to a tee. She will be great doing mornings with John McCaslin on AMN.”
John McCaslin, co-anchor of AMN says, “Talk radio successfully launched my career in journalism. Now, after two decades of proudly penning one of Washington's most popular daily political columns, 'Inside the Beltway,' I am thrilled to be seated again behind the microphone bringing Talk Radio Network's millions of listeners the myriad offbeat stories, scoops and shenanigans I've shared with readers of The Washington Times, Los Angeles Times Syndicate and Tribune Media Services.”
